Fwd: Troop 1441 Newsletter April 15th 2019

To All
Summer Camp -The fee for summer camp has now gone up to $415 for Scouts and $265 for leaders.  There is still time to register your scout.  Summer camp is a very important part of the Scouting Program and the development of your Scout.
The Troop will be going to Camp Olmsted on the Goshen Reservation starting the week of Sunday June 30th returning Saturday July 6th.  The troop will be traveling by bus to and from the camp and the bus fee is $50.00.
To register for camp please contact me by e-mail. jwnek1007@aol.com

The Merit badge selection sheet for summer camp is attached, please make you selections and return them to me quickly so you can be assured of slots. (Rifle Shooting fills up quickly).
All first year scouts will be assigned to the TRAILSHEAD Program so they don't have to fill out the sheet, we will do it for them.
It now takes four sheets to accomplish what we used to do with one, so, for each period of the day please indicate your first choice with a one, backup choice with a 2 in the boxes on the right column.

Mulch Sale - Now that most of the muscle soreness is gone and outstanding paperwork completed we can take a look at how well we did.  The presales effort spearheaded by Mr. Phil Piety energizing the scouts to go out and sell went extremely well as a truckload of mulch was presold.  The weather cooperated on the day of the sale and there was a steady amount of workers on hand to lift the bags, we could have used more help though, both unloading and delivering the bags.  The bags are heavy and the scouts are young, but, next year they will be bigger.  A post event review provided a variety of  suggestions that will be implemented.  As of now the sale netted approximately $2.800 to distribute to the scouts going on the Philmont Trip.  Many thanks to Jon, JD, Hank, Frank, Alan, Jose and the other adults who helped.

Troop Patrol Reorganization and SPL/PL Elections.
The elections, originally scheduled for this week's meeting, 4/22, will be postponed two weeks to allow for the regrouping of the Patrols.

Camporee  Friday 4/26 thru Sunday 4/28, Camp Bennett, Rt 97, Brookville, MD
The theme for the camporee is "STEM", (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math),
will give the Scouts an opportunity to explore a number of challenges and contests competing against other patrols in the District.  The fee for the event is $10. payable to Troop 1441 BSA,  Meal costs are payable to the Scout's Patrol Leader at $3.50 per meal.
The permission Slip is attached.  please bring it to the Troop meeting on 4/22.
The weather will be variable so "Be Prepared" .
