Fwd: Troop 1441 Newsletter 4-29-19

To All
White Oak Camporee
Well, it wasn't the rain this time but the WIND.  It blew gustily almost all night Friday and most of Saturday.  It damaged a few tents, nothing un-repairable but set us to thinking about new tents, more to come on that subject.
The Scouts did fairly well for the most part, most are learning their camping etiquette, keeping camp clean and working together.  They had fun with the various events and while not winning any contests, they participated.  Some rank advancement got accomplished and lots of food was consumed.  The rain did put in a light, brief appearance Sunday morning when we were packing up to leave.  A lot of the packing was done the night before in anticipation of the rain so a cold breakfast was eaten and we were ready to leave by 9 AM, our earliest packup yet!  There was some confusion with transportation  but the problems were solved.
The Troop has at various times had a member of the Committee or a qualified parent serve as The Transportation Coordinator and since we have grown in numbers,  it looks like we need one again.
The roll of the Transportation Coordinator consists of maintaining a list of volunteer, qualified drivers who will assist in transporting the scouts to and from activities.  If you would like to volunteer for the position please e-mail me.

This week's troop meeting will include election of a Senior Patrol Leader and his Assistant,
A discussion of the positives and changes needed as a result of the Camporee,  A preliminary reorganization of the patrols, and some rank advancement.
