 EVENTS  >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.

The Thomas Point Campout on October 25th through the 27th saw the Scouts working on rank advancement, fishing, cooking and having a good time.  The weather was great,  mosquitoes were a little pesty in the mornings and evenings.   The highlight of the event was a pig roasting which was completed after 7 hours on a special roasting spit.  Dinner Saturday night was great and included a Hugh pot of Rice and beans from Jean Pierre and Bebo's parents.  Plenty for everyone.  By the way, James caught a fish, again.

Summer Camp and High Adventure.
It's not too early to be thinking about summer camp.  The Troop has reserved a site for week three of camp Olmsted, Sunday July 5th through Saturday July 11th.   Signups are already open at Council.  Put the date on your calendar. Let me know if you plan to attend.

High Adventure Program, ages 14 and above.
The Troop usually follows a rotation each year between Philmont Backpacking, Northern Tier canoeing and Florida Seabase Sailing.    This year we will be promoting the High Adventure Program at Goshen Scout Reservation Called the Len Hok' sin trail.  This is a week long backpacking adventure in the mountains surrounding the reservation and lake.  Each day scouts will hike to a new theme site set up camp, participate in the theme, cook their meals, sleep over then head to the next site in the morning.   They could travel 30 miles for the week.  Its great Training for the younger scouts 13+ years and older.  Two dates we are considering are the week of June 28th or the week of July 12th.  In which case the scouts could also attend Camp Olmsted by either before or after the trail.  Please let me know if you are interested.
