To All
The Christmas/Holiday Season is full upon us with its partying and commercial doings going full blast.   This should also be the time when we look inward at our religious beliefs and re-affirm our faiths and goodwill to all, much needed now in our national and world situations.  The 12th point of the Scout Law, "A Scout is Reverent",  reminds us of what is really important in our lives and how we should seek to fulfill its obligations.  Peace on Earth and Goodwill to All.

Our annual Christmas/Holiday Party will take place Monday the 16th of December and we will celebrate as we have done in the Troop for the last 40 years, giving Honor to God, celebrating the Yule Season with our tradition of each of the Scouts and Leaders decorating our Christmas tree with an ornament that is special to them and telling us a story as to why it is special.  We will enjoy the favorite foods brought by the families,  and have fun with a gift swap game. Most of all we will bond with all of the troop's family in the spirit of the Season.  Merry Christmas to All and may the Holidays be happy.

Our next official meeting will be Monday January 6th at 7 PM in the Lyon Center.
The troop will be holding Boards of Review and Scoutmaster Conferences in preparation for the Fall Court of Honor that will take place the following Monday 1/13 in the Lyon Center.
Scouts, Please e-mail me if you wish to have a Scoutmaster Conference or Board of review.

The Troop will be participating in the Potomac District Klondike Derby, January 24-25-26.  Scouts will participate as patrols.  There is much to be done in preparation for the event and the Patrol Leaders need to see that everything is ready for the event. Use the time between the Holidays to give you sufficient time.
Permission Slip attached.

The Troop submitted it s annual Re-Charter application on December 14th,  we achieved the "Journey to Excellence Gold Award" and we look forward to another successful year.  It is a little sad right now as a number of our Scouts will be aging out.  Ezana, Ryan, Chris, Oliver and Jeanpierre have turned 18 or will turn 18 shortly.  We are hopeful that they will continue supporting the Troop as adults.  We need to ramp up our recruiting efforts to more than just replace them.  Seems like they just joined the Troop, the cycles go on.

Scouts BSA, formally Boy Scouts of America, celebrates it birthday every year on February 9th.  We commemorate the event by conducting "A Scout is Reverent"
Scout Sunday where scouts of all faiths are welcome .  Saint John's conducts a Scout Service at the 9 PM Mass on Saturday 2/8 and again at the 9 AM Mass on Sunday 2/9.   All troop members are invited to participate.

More to Come...….
